Routine Vaccines

Make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines including chickenpox, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, flu, measles-mumps-rubella, polio, and shingles before traveling.

COVID-19

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines before traveling.

Hepatitis A

Get hepatitis A vaccine if you're unvaccinated and traveling to Algeria. Infants 6-11 months should also get vaccinated.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for unvaccinated travelers under 60. Those 60 and older may also consider vaccination.

Measles

Get fully vaccinated against measles with MMR vaccine before traveling. Infants 6-11 months need an early dose.

Polio

Polio vaccination is important for Algeria travel. Adults who were vaccinated as children may need a booster. Those never vaccinated need the complete series.

Typhoid

Typhoid vaccine is recommended for most travelers to Algeria, especially if staying with friends/relatives or visiting smaller cities or rural areas.

Cholera

Cholera vaccine is not needed for Algeria as there is no active cholera transmission.

Rabies

Consider rabies pre-exposure vaccination if you'll be around animals or in areas where medical care might be limited. Rabid dogs are common in Algeria.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccine is not needed if traveling directly from the US, but is required if coming from countries with yellow fever risk or having long layovers in such countries.
