Recommended vaccines
Routine Vaccines
Make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines including chickenpox, DTP, flu, MMR, polio, and shingles.
COVID-19
All eligible travelers should be up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for all unvaccinated travelers one year and older. Infants 6-11 months should also be vaccinated.
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for unvaccinated travelers under 60. Those 60 and older may also get vaccinated.
Measles
All international travelers should be fully vaccinated against measles with MMR vaccine, including early doses for infants 6-11 months.
Typhoid
Typhoid vaccination is recommended for most travelers to Bangladesh, especially if visiting rural areas or staying with friends and relatives.
Chikungunya
Chikungunya vaccination is generally not recommended. All travelers should take steps to prevent mosquito bites.
Cholera
Cholera vaccination may be considered for travel to Chittagong division where active transmission occurs. Cholera is rare in travelers.
Japanese Encephalitis
Japanese Encephalitis vaccination is recommended for long-term travelers, those moving to Bangladesh, or frequent travelers. Consider vaccination for shorter trips involving rural activities or stays without protective measures.
Rabies
Rabies-infected dogs are commonly found in Bangladesh. Consider pre-exposure vaccination if you'll have activities that increase animal exposure risk or might have difficulty accessing treatment.
Yellow Fever
Yellow fever vaccine is not recommended for disease prevention in Bangladesh. However, it is required for entry if traveling from countries with yellow fever risk, including transit stops over 12 hours.
