Recommended vaccines
Routine Vaccines
Make sure you are current on all routine vaccines including chickenpox, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, flu, measles-mumps-rubella, polio, and shingles.
COVID-19
All eligible travelers should be up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
Chikungunya
Chikungunya vaccination is recommended for travelers going to areas with the current outbreak, particularly Santa Cruz and Cochabamba departments.
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for all unvaccinated travelers one year and older. Special dosing applies for infants 6-11 months and high-risk groups.
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for unvaccinated travelers under 60. Those 60 and older may also consider vaccination.
Measles
All international travelers should be fully vaccinated with MMR vaccine at least two weeks before departure. Infants 6-11 months need an early dose.
Typhoid
Typhoid vaccination is recommended for most travelers to Bolivia, especially if visiting rural areas or staying with friends and relatives.
Yellow Fever
Yellow fever vaccination is recommended for travel to areas below 2,300m elevation east of the Andes Mountains, but required for entry to Bolivia for all travelers 1 year and older regardless of itinerary.
Rabies
Rabies is present in dogs and bats in Bolivia. Consider pre-exposure vaccination if you'll have high-risk activities or limited access to medical care. Post-exposure vaccines are typically available throughout the country.
