Routine Vaccines

Make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines including chickenpox, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, flu, measles-mumps-rubella, polio, and shingles before traveling.

COVID-19

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines before traveling to Cameroon.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for all unvaccinated travelers one year and older. Special dosing applies for infants and high-risk travelers.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for all unvaccinated travelers of any age going to Cameroon.

Measles

Get fully vaccinated against measles with MMR vaccine at least two weeks before travel. Infants 6-11 months need an early dose.

Polio

Poliovirus has been found in Cameroon. Adults may need a booster dose, unvaccinated travelers need complete series, and children may need accelerated schedule.

Typhoid

Typhoid vaccination is recommended for most travelers, especially if visiting rural areas or staying with friends and relatives.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccination is both required for entry (age 1+ years) and recommended for disease prevention (age 9+ months).

Chikungunya

Vaccination is generally not recommended. Focus on preventing mosquito bites to avoid chikungunya.

Cholera

Cholera is present in Cameroon but rare in travelers. Vaccination may be considered for some travelers. Focus on safe food and water practices.

Meningococcal Disease

Vaccination recommended for travelers 2 months and older going to meningitis belt areas of Cameroon during dry season (December to June).

Rabies

Rabid dogs are commonly found in Cameroon. Consider pre-exposure vaccination if you'll have animal contact or may have difficulty accessing treatment.
