Routine Vaccines

Make sure all your routine vaccines are current before traveling, including chickenpox, tetanus, flu, MMR, polio, and shingles vaccines.

Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines before traveling.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for most travelers to El Salvador. Special timing and dosing considerations apply for infants, older adults, and those with medical conditions.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for travelers under 60. Those 60 and older may choose to get vaccinated.

Measles

Measles vaccination is especially important due to rising cases worldwide. All travelers need to be fully vaccinated, including infants as young as 6 months.

Typhoid

Typhoid vaccine is recommended for most travelers, especially if staying with local families or visiting smaller towns and rural areas.

Rabies

Consider rabies vaccination if you'll be around animals or in remote areas. Rabies treatment may only be available in larger medical facilities if you're exposed.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccine is not needed for protection in El Salvador, but is required if you're coming from a country with yellow fever risk, including airport layovers over 12 hours.
