Routine Vaccines

Make sure all your routine vaccines are current, including chickenpox, tetanus, flu, MMR, polio, and shingles vaccines.

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines before traveling.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for all travelers to Guinea-Bissau. Infants 6-11 months should also get vaccinated.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for all unvaccinated travelers to Guinea-Bissau.

Measles

Measles cases are increasing globally. Make sure you're fully vaccinated with MMR vaccine at least 2 weeks before travel. Infants 6-11 months need an early dose.

Typhoid

Typhoid vaccine is recommended for most travelers, especially if visiting rural areas or staying with friends/relatives.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccine is both recommended for your protection and required for entry into Guinea-Bissau for travelers 1 year and older.

Meningococcal Disease

Meningococcal vaccine is recommended if you're traveling to meningitis belt areas of Guinea-Bissau during dry season (December-June).

Rabies

Consider rabies vaccine before travel if you'll be around animals or in remote areas. Rabid dogs are common and treatment vaccines are hard to find in Guinea-Bissau.
