Routine vaccines

Make sure all your routine vaccinations are current, including chickenpox, tetanus, flu, MMR, polio, and shingles vaccines.

COVID-19

Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations before traveling.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for unvaccinated travelers under 60, and may be considered for those 60 and older.

Measles

Get the MMR vaccine for measles protection, especially important as measles cases are rising worldwide. Infants 6-11 months need an early dose.

Japanese Encephalitis

Japanese encephalitis vaccine is recommended if you're staying long-term, frequently traveling to risk areas, or doing outdoor activities in the Murray River or Outer Torres Strait Islands areas.

Rabies

Rabies is uncommon in dogs in Australia and treatment is available if needed. Pre-exposure vaccination may be considered for high-risk activities or if you might have trouble accessing treatment quickly.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccine is not needed if traveling directly from the US, but is required if you're coming from a country with yellow fever risk, including airport layovers over 12 hours.
