Timor-Leste Travel Health Guide

Routine Vaccines

Make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines including chickenpox, DTP, flu, MMR, polio, and shingles.

COVID-19

All eligible travelers should be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines.

Hepatitis A

Recommended for all unvaccinated travelers one year and older. Infants 6-11 months should also be vaccinated.

Hepatitis B

Recommended for all unvaccinated travelers of all ages.

Measles

All international travelers should be fully vaccinated with MMR vaccine at least two weeks before departure, including early vaccination for infants 6-11 months.

Typhoid

Recommended for most travelers, especially if staying with friends/relatives or visiting smaller cities or rural areas.

Chikungunya

Chikungunya vaccination is generally not recommended. All travelers should take steps to prevent mosquito bites.

Japanese Encephalitis

Recommended for long-term travelers (1+ month), frequent travelers, or those doing high-risk activities like rural travel, hiking, or staying in unscreened accommodations. Not recommended for short-term urban travel.

Rabies

Rabies-infected dogs are commonly found in Timor-Leste. Consider pre-exposure vaccination based on your activities and risk of animal contact. Vaccines are typically available if needed.

Yellow Fever

Yellow fever vaccine is not recommended and not required for entry to Timor-Leste.
